Program Overview

The Business Education Program

The BSBA Program is designed to prepare the students for future business leadership in the new global economy imbued with Christian-Vincentian values, ethics and attitudes. Specifically, the program caters to competency standard that will demonstrate the value of fairness and accountability, leadership qualities, innovativeness, and responsible citizenship.

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration is a four-year program that focuses on managing businesses and their overall operations. The program involves critical decision-making skills in order to successfully strategize business operations. It teaches students a basic and clear understanding of the functions of every division in a company, be it in marketing, finance, operations, human resources, and office management.

The The Program includes four major areas:

  • Human Resource Development Management (HRDM) to prepare the students for a career in the field of human resource.
  • Marketing Management (MM) geared to prepare the students for careers in marketing, as marketing manager, marketing executive or marketing director.
  • Financial Management which aims to produce graduates for careers in financial department of both local and international financial institutions.
  • Business Economics (BE) which aims to develop the students as future experts to address economic issues affecting business environment.
  • Recommended Senior High School Strand

    Students who want to pursue a degree in BS in Business Administration are encouraged to take the Accountancy, Business and Management strand. This strand provides the basic concepts of business and financial management, and corporate operations that will be helpful for college.

    OBJECTIVES OF THE HIGHER EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

    The College and the Graduate School curricula of St. Louise de Marillac College of Sorsogon are designed to seek the total human and Christian development of the Filipino man and woman by providing varied opportunities for their continuing education through a balanced program of spiritual, moral, intellectual, physical and social formation. It generally aims to:

  • Deepen the students’ sense of responsibility towards God, self and society enabling them to contribute effectively to the building of a Christian Community.
  • Develop committed Christian leaders who are personally equipped to respond to the needs of Philippine society and the Church and able to work toward the integration of faith, life and culture.
  • Strengthen nationalist consciousness and develop a sound hierarchy of values and profound sense of social responsibility geared toward service and the improvement of the quality of life of the Filipino people and the Mother Earth.
  • Prepare students for a responsible choice of their state of life.
  • Sespond to the changing needs and demands of society by advancing knowledge in research and strengthening habits of intellectual discipline through critical thinking, reflection and problem solving.
  • Higher Education Department specifically seeks to develop:

  • Demonstrates mastery of skills in analysis, reflection, research, creative thinking and decision making;
  • Participates meaningfully in his/her own development and that of others;

  • In addition to taking the subjects mentioned above, you may also undergo an On-the-Job Training at companies and organizations that can help further develop your skills such as advertising agencies, publishing companies, and radio or TV stations to name a few.

    A mature Filipino who:

  • Sonscienticizes the realities of the Philippine Church:
  • Deepens consciousness of national identity, traditions and aspirations;
  • Distinguishes what is truly Filipino and takes pride in his nationalist identity by preferring the use of Filipino goods over imported ones;
  • Uses media critically and discriminatingly, clear-sighted in his convictions about “national development” and “national progress” and works toward the genuine improvement of the quality of Filipino life;
  • Strives toward national solidarity, unity and reconciliation in his efforts to contribute to nation building;
  • serves his country and its people honestly and sincerely; and
  • Works toward preservation of the country’s national resources, and the enrichment of its cultural heritage and values.
  • A mature Christian who:

  • Possesses a full grasp of the fundamentals of the Christian faith and of Christian life;
  • Demonstrates social awareness, commitment and responsibility;
  • Commits himself to the teaching of Christ; practices devotion to Mary as Servant of the Poor;
  • Grows in the practice of the Christian virtue of faith, hope and love through a deepened, meaningful relationship with persons in the context of community;

  • Serves as model to others in the meaningful and frequent reception of the sacraments; and adopts a lifestyle which is Christ-centered and Marian.
  • A mature Vincentian who:

  • Responds sensitively to the “signs of the times” by serving the truly poor;
  • Strives for simplicity of lifestyle which approximates that of the greater majority of the Filipino people;
  • Invites the rich to compassionately share their resources with the needy;
  • Demonstrates compassion, simplicity, humility and competence in serving people specifically the truly poor of the society; and
  • Collaborates his charitable works with others systematically and promotes the rights of the oppressed, powerless and the exploited of society through active non-violence.

  • Equips himself academically in response to the demands in his field of specialization;

  • Fosters the value of human dignity and fraternal concern in any place he finds himself in; and
  • Acquires correct understanding of the human experience and realities.
  • A Marian devotee who:

  • Models Christian, Vincentian and Marian heritage to promote devotion to the Blessed Mother through the Miraculous Medal.
  • A DC school graduate who:

  • exhibits good leadership that is anchored on Christian and Marian principles.
  • ADMISSION POLICIES

    The College observes a Selective Retention Policy for the Education and Bachelor of Physical Education Programs and Open Admission Policy for other courses such as the BSBA, BA and BSHM.

    It admits students who are of good moral character and have complied with the credentials set forth by the School. Qualifying entrance examinations are administered for purposes of placement. A student eligible for admission recognizes, accepts, and complies with all existing policies, regulations and requirements concerning his school duties and campus activities, set forth in the Student Handbook.

    St. Louise de Marillac College of Sorsogon exercises its prerogative to admit or not to admit students, under certain conditions as prescribed in its Manual of Operations and others pursuant to the Manual of Regulations for Private Schools.

    Admission Requirements

    Freshmen/ New Students

    1. Qualifying Entrance Examination
    2. Submission of the following credentials within the designated period:

  • Medical Certificate
  • Narcom Certificate
  • Church Marriage Certificate (for married students)
  • Student Visa for foreigners
  • A written agreement signed by the student and the parents or guardian, to abide by the rules and regulations of the College
  • 3. For enrollees who are Non-ABM but intend to get Business Education and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management Courses are required to take the following subjects as part of their Bridging Program:

  • Organization and Management
  • Business Finance
  • Applied Economics
  • Principles of Marketing
  • Fundamentals of Accounting.

    Program Outcome

    Graduates of BS in Business Administration are expected to be able to:

  • Conduct research methods from a business perspective
  • On-The-Job Training/Internship

    During the fourth year of the program, students are required to attend an On the Job Training (OJT) in various corporate and business companies. Students are given the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in an actual work setting. Usually, universities require them to submit a written report on their tasks, learning experiences, and hours rendered. Their work performance will also be evaluated by their immediate managers and will be submitted to their respective OJT coordinator. The number of hours required may differ in each university.

    Career Opportunities

    Graduates of BS in Business Administration may pursue a career path in various corporate and business companies. They may for roles such as a marketing officer, sales representative, account manager, lead manager, retail manager, and business development executive.
