Program Overview

OBJECTIVES OF THE GRADUATE SCHOOL

The Graduate School aims to develop Christian-Vincentian leaders imbued with a deep sense of responsibility to self, society and God, committee to the enhancement of culture through research, constructive critical thinking and competent teaching, ever striving for the improvement of the quality of the and the building of a Christian community as change agents in their respective school environments and especially in the Province of Sorsogon. Further, the Graduate School Program seeks to raise the prestige of the teaching profession by offering opportunities for sits high academic professionalism.

Specifically, the Graduate School curricula. Master of Arts in Education and Master in Buddies Administration, are designed to allow students to explore issues, design curriculum and learn new strategies and techniques that will enable them to become more effective educators, through the application of theories and new researches to their educational practice.

The program is designed to be accessible to the working professionals.

Recommended Undergraduate Program

Students who wish to pursue a graduate degree in Education should currently be taking an undergraduate degree in Education. However, students who are currently not taking an undergraduate program in relevant fields but still wish to pursue an MA in Education are encouraged to take at least 18 units of courses in the relevant fields. Additionally, it is advised for those who wish to take up this program to have had prior experience in teaching.

Masters of Arts in Education seeks to:

  • Develop committed Catholic Christian leaders who are personally equipped with wisdom, skills and values to the service of the local Church and society.
  • Facilitate efforts towards personal and professional development and extend the frontiers of knowledge through research to attain academic, excellence and leadership in the fields of Education, Science and Technology.
  • Strongly promote thrusts of higher education such as instruction, research, extension service and productivity through upgrading the competencies of teacher and education professionals in the province to respond to the needs of the various communities they serve.
  • Admission Policies

    The Graduate School observes an Open Admission Policy. It admits students who are go good moral character and have complied with the credentials set forth by the school. Qualifying entrance examinations are administered for purposes of placement. A student eligible for admission recognizes, accepts and complies with all existing policies, regulations and requirements concerning his school duties and campus activities, set forth in the Students Handbook.

  • Original Transcript of Records (for enrolment purposes)
  • Certificate of Transfer Eligibility (Honorable Dismissal - with OTR for Evaluation (for Transferees)
  • Marriage contract (for married student)
  • Two (2) copies 1x1 I.D. picture
  • Enrollment

  • Student enrollees will take the test first at the Guidance Center before enrollment is granted.
  • He is allowed to take 12 units during the first and second semester and 9 units during summer.
  • He has earn 33 units before he takes Thesis 1.
  • Graduate student who has failed to defend his Thesis Proposal after a lapse of 5 years is required to retake Thesis 1 plus 2 refresher subjects.
  • No student is allowed to give a re-enrollment fee of in any subject dropped or for non-appearance during the semester. He has to re-enroll the subject, attend classes and pay his tuition fee in full.
  • The subjects, Thesis 1 and 2 maybe re-enrolled for a maximum of 2 consecutive semesters for a re-enrollment fee of Php250.00 beyond two semesters, a student is required to enroll the same subject with complete enrollment fee.
  • Before a student takes a comprehensive examination, he is required to settle all accounts with the Accounting Office.
  • Old students are required to enroll through on line using the school website.
  • He/she presents the receipt to the Librarian to secure his/her library card and the Audio-Visual Room who will issue his/her ID card.
  • No student will be considered unless all records are complete. If a student is a transferee, he must repeat the 6 units of integrated Course of Research Methodology and Statistics. Exemptions may be granted in certain meritorious cases. He/she is now called Graduate Students (GS).
  • Program Outcome

    Graduates of MAEd in Educational Management are expected to be able to:

  • Facilitate the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of learning
  • Advocate, nurture, and sustain a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth
  • Ensure management of learning outcomes including operations and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment
  • Career Opportunities

    Graduates of MAEd in Educational Management may pursue a career path in both public and private educational institutions or government agencies. They may apply for roles such as a college professor, head teacher, department head, school principal, administrator, school supervisor, college dean, education researcher, educational consultant, or a curriculum developer.
